It's weird/good being back in Wolfville. I'm actually about to embark on a late night adventure to the downtown area. Nobody else seems to be up and/or around but that's not going to stop me. (It's way too early for me to even think about sleep anyway).

Quote of the YesterDay:
Batman: They're used to curious sights, which they attribute to alcoholic delusions
Robin: Gosh, drink sure is a filthy thing, isn't it? I'd rather be dead than unable to turst my own eyes

From the only real Batman movie, this is.

It's funny. This week I've felt like I was part of team at work more so than at any other point previous to this. That's despite the fact that A) we lost our team leaderand a couple other team members a couple weeks back, B) I'm only around for another week and C) we're not actually an official team anymore. They were supposed to replace our team leader but the person who was supposed to do that ended up filling in as TL for another team. And so they decided (after a couple weeks of our not having a TL) to disband our team this week and assign us all to different teams. We were supposed to actually start working the same shifts as our new teams next week too but the schedule that came out today has as all working as a team still. (Meaning that for many of us our official TL isn't even at work when we are. Or at least not for all the time we are). Crazy.

-Brian O'Blivion
This quote comes from Videodrome (a "what the hell is going on?" movie if ever there was one. Highly recommended)

Quote of the Day:
Character 1: They're used to curious sights, which they attribute to alcoholic delusions
Character 2: Gosh, drink sure is a filthy thing, isn't it? I'd rather be dead than unable to turst my own eyes

I wonder if this quote could have any sort of relation to my weekend plans... :P

I miss having a laptop. The computer I have now is a good one and I'm quite happy with it, but I just like the whole laptop thing. There was something about being able to surf the web, play games and watch things while lying in bed and not having to get up that just felt relaxing. I can still watch things on my computer while lying on my bed (in fact 90% of the time I watch something, that's where I am) but the other things are much less possible to pull off. The portability is nice too.

The next time I get a computer (some number of years down the road most likely), it's quite probable that it will be a laptop.

Nice work, Hbaka! Am I proud of you. When you go home tonight, there's going to be another story on your house.

Watching the election coverage unfold over the last few weeks has lead to some interesting thought processes on my part. One of the more interesting ones is that Trevor, the atheist, has a far easier time accepting and understanding theistic views than Trevor, the Kerry supporter, has of understanding and accepting the thought process employed by Bush supporters. It's counter-intuitive but it's true.

As an atheist my world view is relatively narrow. To me there's basically just the physical universe we are currently experiencing and that's it. By contrast, many have a much broader world view which includes a god or gods, eternal life and more.

You would think that this would make for a high level of incompatibility but it really doesn't. The vast differences between views don't even occur to me most of the time. And generally speaking I think that is true of most atheists (certainly not all though, I've known some without a rather negative view of anyone who didn't accept the atheistic view).

Bush supporters (and right wing types) in general, on the other hand, are much harder to conceive of. It's much harder for me to understand how people could think Bush is a good leader and that he's made all the right choices these last 4 years.

I think the reason it's so much harder to accept the right wing view is that it conflicts directly with my own view. I can look at an action or event and see it as having one meaning, whereas a right wing believer could see it having a different and contradictory meaning.

By contrast, my view of the world on religion usually fits inside of a theist's view of the world. We both believe most of the same things about the physical world and when you get outside of that realm I have no beliefs to conflict with.

I'm not sure if I'm explaining this very well but Daily Show is on so I've got other things to do. :P

My energy level has been really up and down today. There have been times when I've felt really energetic and ambitious and then, just a few minutes later, I've felt lazy and tired. I seem to be on a heavy lazy down right now so I think I'm just gonna watch a little QL and go to bed.

This weekend has been highly relaxing. Not so much with the productivity but quite refreshing. Part of that is due to my not going outside of the city for the first time in a few weeks and the other part is due to a scheduling switch giving me a 3 day weekend. 3 days isn't really that long but it feels like I've been off for at least a week.

I didn't do anything all that noteworthy (unless you consider playing a hell of a lot of Tales of Symphonia to be noteworthy) but I think that's a big part of what made it such a great weekend. My biggest concerns the whole weekend involved solving dungeon puzzles and things like that.
