The Quilted Cave

Ramblings from everyone's favorite quilted super-hero.

I saw a very interesting film tonight. It was kind of a modern day retelling of Paradise Lost. For those of you unfamiliar with Milton's epic, it's about Satan coming to earth and trying to tempt mankind as part of an attempt to thwart God. In this case Satan was attempting to thwart Santa Claus. And instead of tempting mankind in general he tempted small children.

Santa had a palace of crystal and gold in heaven/space (over the north pole). He also had a cadre of small children from all over the world who apparently 'volunteered' to live with Santa and build toys for him. Also of note, Santa directed a number of musical numbers throughout the movie and the devil had a habit of prancing around when he was happy. And Merlin showed up later in the movie to help Santa out. Oh and the movie was made in Mexico in the 1960s.

It's not surprising in the least that MST3K chose to show Santa Claus. I think it's probably in the top two or three episodes I've seen. Even without the comments from Mike and the bots it would have been hilarious to watch (I've only mentioned a few of the bizarre elements here).

Bustin picks up the first point (I'll add a scoreboard later when I'm feeling more ambitious) though I have to agree with Hbaka that it does sound like something Duckman would say.

I managed to accomplish absolutely nothing productive today!!! Yay me! The closest I got to being productive would probably be either A) when I went to the store to get a bag of chips, B) when I showered or C) when I beat a level of XIII. Other 'accomplishments' on the day included feeding myself, watching a good amount of TV, watching an ep of MST3K and watching Jaws on DVD.

Some might feel ashamed about not doing anything productive all day but seeing as I made a conscious decision to not do anything effortful today I'd say that was a successful accomplishment in and of itself! :)

Hbaka gets the credit for this one.

Of special note, today's quote marks the beginning of my keeping tallies of the quote guessing. The smart money is on Bustin racking up the most points. But whether or not he does is up to you! (esp if you are Bustin)

Is there anything scary about... A FACE!!!!!!? I'm sure we've all been exposed to the lameness of the Hershey's Smores commercial by now. I've seen that commercial many times and I've still yet to understand how that's supposed to be scary. I can't think of too many ghost stories where the climax was 'A FACE!!!!!'. So, in order to make the universe suck just a wee bit less I've decided that you, yes you, get a chance to write a small ghost story that ends with 'A FACE!!!' and is still somehow at least a little bit scary. The contest closes Thursday, June 15th and the winner will get a real prize worth some non-zero monetary value! No limit on the length. It can be 2 lines or 2000 lines, it's up to you. And there will be a winner so even if you think your idea sucks, try it and you may still win (esp if nobody else bothers :P). Good luck!

Amy gets credit on this one, even if she wasn't overly sure of herself.

Tomorrow's the beginning of another 'weekend' for me. This week's gone by really fast.

I was thinking about going home for my days off but I've opted to wait. My last break was a lot of fun but it was also really hectic and I'm sure if I went home I'd be having another hectic break so I'm going to hold off on that until next week.

That means I've got a couple days coming up with almost zero obligation. I've got to get some groceries and do a load of laundry but other than that it's all free time. I plan to use it well (and by 'use it well' I just mean relax and have fun, not necessarily do anything 'productive')

Hey, I actually got this to load!

I just finished posting a new comment saying I wouldn't be able to post tonight and then it loaded. I'm not sure why but blogger (which has never been 100% reliable to begin with) seems to be running pretty crappy the last few days. I'm starting to think I might be better off elsewhere (not that they're likely to miss my non money paying patronage :P).

Work was pretty hectic today. It seems all the people who were busy enjoying their holiday weekend saved their calls up for Sunday and Monday and so we've had a much higher call volume than usual. I hardly had anytime at all to read webcomics and check my e-mail! It's awful! :P

Bustin nailed this one as he usually does with Simpsons quotes.

I actually did do a post last night but for some reason it didn't publish (though I know I hit publish as I have a clear memory of waiting for it to finish publishing. So read that one too. I'd hate to think I wasted several minutes of my life without someone reading it (though I suppose I waste most of my minutes but there's no tangible record most of the time).

Work was pretty weird today. Thanks, I'm guessing, to the long weekendness, there was very little in the way of calls. The first 3 hours or so I got like 4-5 calls and all of them were 10 mins or less. Up until 1 AM it was pretty much read a bunch of webcomics, take a short call, check my e-mail, read some more comics, take a call, read some more comics, etc. Pretty sweet to get paid for that. :)

Around 1 AM things picked up as A) people who went out just for the evening were getting back home, B) people stay up later on Saturday, C) We're the only center open after 1 and D) the support server went down so people probably were taking longer to handle calls. So I was pretty much on the phone the whole time for that last hour or so. Other than that, an extremely lazy day.

An upside of the support server being down is that I didn't end up sticking around for an hour of MSN training OT (MSN stuff is on the server) which means I'm home in time to blog and still catch all 3 eps of Superfriends which YTV is showing this week.

Quote of the Day: Same as yesterday since nobody had a crack at it yet.
