Another day of being all snowed in.

My driveway and the dirt road by my house have been paved since mid-afternoon. As of early evening the paved road after the dirt road was still with the snow-drifts and such. It may be clear now but I'm not going to walk all the way out to the end of the road to check. Hopefully it'll be clear in the morning though as it's one of the conditions to my getting to Acadia tomorrow. The other is dependent on Granger and her grandparents. Unfortunately she hasn't been online this evening so I don't know what their thoughts on the likelihood of going tomorrow are. AND, if I'm not talking to Granger by 9 - 9:30 tomorrow I'll have no way to get to her house even if they are going (my parents are going to get my sister at Dal tomorrow). Ah well, more lazing for me if I don't go.

Defunct word of the Day: rangy
Means having long or slender limbs, being inclined to rove, or roomy.

Kinda weird day today.

Was supposed to go back to Acadia but given the conditions last night, I knew that was almost certainly not happening. When I got up today, that was confirmed with things being MUCH, MUCH worse with the wind and such.

Also, I got about 4 hours of sleep because my mom stayed home from work and since the dog could hear her moving around she decided that it was a good time for her to get up (if you know her, you know it's impossible for me to sleep in my room if she's awake unless someone keeps her upstairs). Hence I'm very tired. And soon I shall sleep.

Defunct word of the day: Krang
Not just a TMNT turtle villian. It's also the carcass of a whale after the blubber's been removed... ewww...

So blizzards at bad times = sucky

The snow didn't hit till after midnight tonight but I then had to drive in it for an hour or so. Not the worst thing I've driven in but probably top 5ish.

The real crappy part is that I can't go to Wolfville until at least Friday now thanks to this. But the possibility of a strike starting on Monday is pretty high so maybe I'll get time off then. Who knows?

Defunct Word of the Day: Brank
I'm using it in the sense that means to prance or caper.

It occurs to me that there's been an awful lot of bitching and whining on this blog lately. So today, despite the fact I'm quasi-sick, no bitching OR whining.

Instead I'll give you the first sentence for a story that just popped into my head the other night, "The good news was, the zombie ray was a complete success". I'm not quite sure why but that sentence popped into my brain on Sunday night as I was trying to get to sleep. Almost immediately afterwards, an entire story came to mind.

My laptop was actually turned off at the time and I was curled up in bed so I was tempted to just write it down the next day. I was scared however, that I would forget about it and the idea would be lost. So I grabbed my laptop, curled up in bed with it and wrote down that first sentence as well as the basic outline of the story. I would have written more but I wanted to be up fairly early the next day so I figured it was a bad idea. Of course, I spent the next hour or so unable to sleep and thinking about the story so I probably would have been better off had I continued to write.

I haven't really had a chance to expand upon the basic outline yet as I've been busy with other things but I'm hoping sometime tomorrow (if not then, definitely Thursday or Friday), I'll have the time to sit down and write out at least some of it. I have a feeling it's going to end up being too long to use for class so I may just post it up here when I'm done and see what you, my 'legions' of 'crazed fans', think of it.

Defunct Word of the Day: younker
Basically means a young man or a child. Pronounced youn-ker.

Another day of spring break is over with. I can't wait to get back to Acadia so I can actually get some relaxation time. Whenever I'm at home I'm always being bothered by either a) my parents or b) my dog, often both. I love my parents and all but they are way annoying. Same deal with the dog who seems to have gotten SLIGHTLY less energentic but WAY more heedless since I've last been home. I haven't even been able to get a full 8 hour sleep all break.

I've made some progress today on the figuring out what the hell I want to do with my life front. I've been looking at education and journalism but thinking I'd like to write eventually. Today I realized I should go to a writing school or something and focus on getting better at THAT instead of getting better at things I'm just doing until I can do something I really want to do.

Also, I think I'm always going to be too shy for either education or journalism and the journalism like stuff that I'm interested in is mainly in the review/criticism area which would be just as qualified to do after learning more about writing as I would be after learning more about journalism. So tomorrow I'm going to go find some stuff to apply to in the writing field.

Defunct Word of the Day: Bort

Yes, it's a word! I found it on dictionary.com. Unfortunately it means 'poorly crystallized diamonds used for industrial cutting and abrasion". I might have a bit of trouble working that into my everyday conversations. :P

Ahhh, peace.

For just about the first time since I've been home, there's peace. My parents are in bed so no nagging and Heidi, after being up all day, is sleeping on the couch instead of stepping on my laptop. There's not really anything worth watching on TV anymore but that's okay as I watched some stuff earlier. Now I'm just lying here and relaxing. If all spring break were like this at home, I wouldn't complain nearly as much. :P

Defunct word of the Day: naff

It's not actually defunct (rather it's british slang) but as OED is inaccessible when I'm not at Acadia, words are harder to come by. It means unstylish or outmoded. (i.e. 'South Park is naff, man.')

Tonight's post lost due to the wonders of techinical glitches.

As I'm too lazy/tired to re-write it right now, it'll have to wait till tomorrow.
