Due to technical difficulties which kept me from reaching blogger.com last night, this post will be doubling as both my Thursday night and Friday night post. I'm going to drive to Pictou County after work tonight (instead of getting up early to do so tomorrow) so I probably will just want to go to bed when I get to PC.

Had a rather odd dream last night. In it, my sister was watching some sappy family movie which I watched the last few minutes of. Then in my dream I went to bed and dreamt I was watching a movie which was a sequel. The sequel was far better in that it was no longer sappy (also a bit too dark to be a family movie). When I woke up back into the top level dream I told my sister about how much better the sequel I had dreamed up was.

And now I'm off to do some stuff pre-work time.

Bustin gets credit on this one.

They'll assume that sort of thing runs in the family, and frankly I got a tough enough time picking up chicks to begin with. So good luck, be careful, and maybe we'll see you on TV sometime lip-synching Over The Rainbow at one of those Pride parades."

As my posting mid-week suggests, I've gotten internet access set up in Moncton. Not that anyone seems to care. :P

On Monday night at some point my phone was hooked up. I was at work though so I didn't realize it was hooked up until Tuesday. On Tuesday I called Sympatico about getting an internet account (though I had no idea what sort of timeframe to expect for getting hooked up). I also tried multiple times to call a couple people to let them know I now had phone access but nobody was home so I went to work and did my thing.

Today (Wednesday), I tried once more to get in touch with people but there must be some sort of regulation against being near your phones or something so no luck. But I did receive a call from Sympatico letting me know that my internet account was up and running.

Online I go with my rather old laptop. It only has Windows 95 and Internet Explorer 3.0 on it. I figure first thing I should do is get an updated browser. Unfortunately IE 6 doesn't support Windows 95 and whenever Microsoft releases a new browser they stop offering the old one. So I ended up getting the latest version of Mozilla instead (which, although a bit slow on this ol' beast, is pretty nice and supports Win 95).

After that I try to get ICQ but there's no ICQ available for Win 95. I get Trillian instead. Trillian's good but it doesn't load up your contact list like ICQ does AND you can only search for people using their ICQ #. I never thought I'd have this problem so I never bothered exporting my contact list when I was at home. So I have a completely empty list around 3 PM. I figure, no problem I'll just set an NA message explaining my situation and telling people to message me. If I leave it online while I'm at work I'll probably get a good chunk of my list filled out when I get home. When I get home 10 hours later I find one message (out of a possible 40 or so). It's now been on for 12 hours and it's still one. Talk about making you feel special.

Work's going pretty well. Things are really slow most of the time though in order to accomodate those who are less knowledgable about computers. I understand the necessity of going slow but it can be dull at times. Ah well, only 4 days of classroom training left and then we get to hit the floor.

Bustin's constant Tick guessing paid off when I used a quote from The Tick. It's one of those quotes that really embodies Tick too.

If you're looking to be greatly disturbed, check out the new skittles commercial. It takes disturbing to a whole new level.

Back to Moncton in the morning which means I might not get to update again until Saturday. With any luck I'll get online before that but it's dependent on how long Aliant takes getting my phone hooked up. Note to self: remember to steal a phone in the morning.

This one comes from Robin Hood: Men in Tights. I'm surprised nobody got it as the movie is fairly known by my limited readership.

This one's for you Bustin. (though the rest of you can guess and the fact I said it's for Bustin may make it easier. Esp if you were to glance at some of his recent guesses. :P)

I'm home for the weekend so updating happens. This update should have been done last night in accordance with my normal update procedure but on the way home from NG I suddenly got very tired. I also realized that my dog had probably been sleeping for quite a while so if she got excited she'd probably not want to go to bed for quite a long time. So when I got in, I set the VCR to record Superfriends et al, brushed my teeth and went to bed. The dog actually went from her kennel to the bed and thus seemed content to stay asleep. It was around this time I remembered about the blog. So I decided I'd do it in the morning rather than risk having to stay up till 4 or 5 AM when I was really tired.

Moncton's going pretty well so far. The place I'm staying at is nice and the job seems decent. Training's a bit slow but that's basically because there are some people in the class who know a whole lot about computers and others who don't know that much. We have started getting into how to use some of their diagnostic tools and such though so it's not as boring as when we were covering e-mail settings. I'm going to be answering calls from Ontario and Quebec so if you're ever in one of those provinces and in need of help getting on the internet, you could get me on the phone.

Still no progress on the new laptop front and the old one is worse than it was. The CD-rom drive has decided it doesn't want to stay closed anymore. I'm guessing a spring popped out or something but I can't actually get at it. I did call and ask Aliant to set my phone line up though and once I've got that I'll be getting dial-up (at least till I get my new laptop, then I'll hopefully switch over to high-speed).

On the transportation issue it looks like I might not need to rely on buses and taxis. My dad bought me an old car. It's not the prettiest car but if it manages to run all week, I'll be taking it back to Moncton with me next weekend. It seems pretty good for $600 but time will tell on that one I guess.

Quote of the YesterWednesDay: "Next time you have a cat caught up a tree, and you need the government's help, don't call me."

This one came from a government special agent who wasn't getting along very well with Socrates on The Adventures of Brisco Country, Jr.. I'm not really surprised nobody got it as far few people I know have seen the show. If you have high-speed I highly recommend grabbing it off of Supernova. The style of the show kinda reminds me of the lighter Xena eps except with more Bruce Campbell, less Greek stuff and more Westerny. You don't have to like Westerns to enjoy it though (I don't watch any Westerns myself yet I love this show).
