It was really nice to have a shift yesterday that ended at 11:15 PM and then not have the next one start until 3:00 PM the next day. I not only got a good night's sleep but I was also able to spend a bunch of time on the computer, watch two eps of Quantam Leap and two eps of Excel Saga. And I had time on top of that to cook a non-microwaved meal. It reminded me of when I used to work 8.15 hour shifts. Very nice.

It's interesting that the incredibly lengthy shifts by themselves don't seem to impair my ability to enjoy my day. It's just that I usually have 12 hours or less between the end of one and the start of the next. When you factor in driving, showering, sleeping, etc it just doesn't leave a lot of time for rest and relaxation.
