Working at a call centre has had some weird side-effects on me. For instance, whenever I pull up to a drive-thru window I have the urge to say "Bell Tech Support, Trevor speaking. How may I help you?". I'm not quite sure why but there's a connection in my mind between answering a call at work and ordering at a drive-thru.
I never feel the urge to answer anything else (including regular phone calls) this way, so there's something specific about drive-thrus. I think it may be the knowing your about to start a dialogue and just waiting for your cue. The cue is different for each but they both have a sound starting without your doing anything cue.
I think it's probably just a matter of time before I fuck up and ask a drive-thru employee how I can help them.
In watching stuff related news I watched a golden episode of MST 3k yesterday. It was an Ed Wood film (if you know who that is, you know the quality of the movie without needing to know anymore). The movie was called "The Sinister Urge" and it was about a smut operation and the police trying to shut it down. There was some great stuff. My favorite scene had to be when the police were explaining to a citizen who thought the police should be focusing on more important matters how seeing and/or being involved in smut leads to all sorts of crimes (up to including murders). The scene were the cops said that people were more adversely affected by (and addicted to) smut than the were with drugs and/or alcohol was pretty sweet too though. Ah, good ol' 50s morality.
Quote of the YesterDay: "Well, there's no problem. If you have a gun, shoot 'em in the head. That's a sure way to kill 'em. If you don't, get yourself a club or a torch. Beat 'em or burn 'em. They go up pretty easy."
- Sherrif from Night of the Living Dead
- Hbaka seems to have known this quote and if he'd named the film and given a vague description of the speaker I probably would have given him the point.
Quote of the Day (today you've just gotta correctly fill in the blank): "Who betta than ________?"
- ?
Obviously the blank had to be there to make the quote somewhat challenging.
